tom :

i know that being in a band is supposed to help you out with girls, but does it still work if it’s a hard rock or metal band? or does it only work if it’s like sappy soft rock or pop punk?

outlaw :

my mom is getting into that spanish pop stuff and i’ll admit it sounds pretty cool. there was one cd that was combining hard rock and spanish pop, i thought it was awesome having the bass deep and egdy with a electric rythim guitar and fast drums and acoustic guitar with soft synthisyzer. please give me some band names that combine rock and spanish pop or techno

BQ: Billy Joel or Elton John?
BQ2: What country is your favorite band from? What continent do most of your favorite bands come from?
Emily, I used to hate most core bands, too, but I’ve found a few that I like. The Showdown and Salt the Wound, for instance.
Spoken like a true sheep, sugaree. I respect your opinion, but I personally feel genres can be a good thing provided nobody screws up or insults you for what you listen to. If you honestly have nothing good to say, don’t bother answering the question. Different genres have different sounds. For instance, a lot of people classify Black Metal and Death Metal as the same, when this is not true. Death Metal focuses on vocals at the expense of their instrumentals, while Black Metal forcuses on their instrumentals at the expense of their vocals. They also have two completely different vocal stylings. While Death is often a much deeper growl, Black Metal is often of a higher-pitched growl and scream. There are exceptions to both, of course.
But, seriously, all you’re doing is repeating what others on here say. Get your own opinion please.
lelliesandremains, I’m trying to put into words my response to your answer. The best I can come up with is “Wow”. Someone actually took the time to answer my question properly. Congratulations. Seriously. It is also good to see the musically diverse haven’t left R&P for good.
Also, sugaree. I am neither narrow-minded nor limited. I am willing to listen to anything, but I classify it into a genre in order to keep it with things that sound similar. For instance. As a whole, I don’t particularely like rap. However, I have found certain rap artists that I like. I fail to see how this makes me narrow-minded. I do not refuse to listen to rap unless it is something I know I already hate. If anyone is narrow-minded, it’s you for classifying everyone that categorizes their music into genres as narrow-minded.
My apologies, Jimmy. Care to enlighten us on your favorite metal sub-genres?
Josh, you have my dream job. Seriously.
And now it’s not letting me respond to things xD
Riot Grrrl, I hate Disney. With a passion xD I love the old TV shows, but I hate the music :P Unless someone can show me a good one (hasn’t happened yet)
Eh Sugaree. Point taken. However, I still like to classify my music so as to group it with things that have a like sound. If I’m in the mood to listen to Hecate Enthroned (Black MEtal band from Britain) then chances are I’ll be in the mood for Emperor and Mayhem (black metal bands from Norway) as well.
Also, let it be known that I gave everyone TUs. Including Sugaree xD

Beni :

I came across the Album of the Year winners for the Grammy’s for each year all the way down to the late 50’s and I was hard pressed to find any metal or hard rock bands even nominated. There was plenty of pop and soft rock nominees and a considerable amount of hip-hop albums but none from even the most famous hard rock and metal bands like Zeppelin or Maiden.

Do the powers-that-be in the Grammys hate Metal or Hard Rock? Do they even consider it a legitimate form of music? There is also no Punk nominees, what the hell?
I am aware of the Jethro Tull incident so maybe the Grammy’s don’t really get Metal.
Like in 1971 Simon and Garfunkel won instead of Zeppelin’s Vol. 4
Seems crazy to me.

azure_lune11 :

The song is a sort of “soft” rock/pop or alternative w/ male vocals. The thing he repeats the most is the phrase: “rain, rain go away, all the world is waiting for the sun.” Does anyone know the name of the song and/or the singer/band? Thank you!
awesome, thanks!! I appreciate those of you who’ve answered!!

THE ONE :

I like bands like Linkin Park, Cake, Three Days Grace, All-American Rejects, Akon, Sean Kingston, Peter Cincotti, Avril Lavigne, Bon Jovi, The last Good night, etc etc etc. I like the Rocky Theme song. I like lots of rock, hiphop, pop, r&b, even classic. I am also looking for a really good techno band. Preferably without vocals, just cool beats and stuff like that. Or maybe some kind of band with relaxing music (also no vocals). Anyone recommend some bands? Or even just a song or theme song? Please try to tell me which kind of music they play. Thanks!

10 points go to the person who gives me the BEST band or song, not just the MOST of them.
