Beni :
I came across the Album of the Year winners for the Grammy’s for each year all the way down to the late 50’s and I was hard pressed to find any metal or hard rock bands even nominated. There was plenty of pop and soft rock nominees and a considerable amount of hip-hop albums but none from even the most famous hard rock and metal bands like Zeppelin or Maiden.
Do the powers-that-be in the Grammys hate Metal or Hard Rock? Do they even consider it a legitimate form of music? There is also no Punk nominees, what the hell?
I am aware of the Jethro Tull incident so maybe the Grammy’s don’t really get Metal.
Like in 1971 Simon and Garfunkel won instead of Zeppelin’s Vol. 4
Seems crazy to me.

The critics and the press HATED Zeppelin when they first hit the scene, so….
Plus, the Grammys suck. Don’t take them seriously.
Beni, I think it might be because, as you said, they don’t even class it as music…
i hate grammy’s its totally dominated by lady gaga, beyonce and taylor shit
You have to look no further than the first Heavy Metal Grammy winner to know how clueless they are about heavy and aggressive music.
Why take the Grammy’s seriously? They gave one to Milli Vanilli! That alone should give you some clue about how serious the award is. It is popularity contest. Frankly, I think most “pure” musicians are less concerned with winning awards and more concerned about making great music.
AC- DC won a grammy at one time, but they lost to Green Day, Evanescence won a Grammy, and i think they got the album title, their was a few more, Metallica won a grammy too i think. but yeah, the grammy’s do suck ass when it comes to metal/hard rock nominees.
