Jonathan S :

I heard a song on the radio recently. Its a hit song they played over the years. Its definitely an 80’s song because they were playing an 80’s segment on the radio. Its an upbeat tune and the song starts with a keyboard riff and a woman singing ‘ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh’. It has a male singing the verses, i can’t remember any of the lyrics of the verses. When it gets to the chorus the male sings the line, by ear I’m dead certain is ‘leaving our baby’ and a woman sings the same line after him. They repeat this line a few times and then sing something else together (i cant remember the lyrics) and then its back to that keyboard intro with the woman singing, ‘ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh’. Sorry for the vague explanation. Let me know if there are any other details i can provide. Thanks to anyone who answers. I will reply and tell you if you got the song right or not. Also the songs genre sounds like rock/pop. Not electronic/sythentic like a lot of 80’s tunes. More like a soft rock band using a keyboard. Don’t focus on this but it may be slightly if I dare say sound a bit country. It is definitely more of a soft rock song than country but. Its not ‘take me home tonight’ by Eddie Money. I’m trying to think of a band to compare it to. Maybe this song i’m looking for sounds similar to that band The Black Sorrows. Its mainly a male singer that sings this song. How does 50 bucks for whoever finds out the song sound? Just give me your mailing address. I am very familiar with 80’s tunes because it is my favourite music. Since trying to find this song I’ve gone through many songs I don’t know only to fail to find it. So it must be a pretty obscure song. I’m pretty sure it’s a an obscure artist also, may even be a one-hit wonder because it does not sound like any more familiar artists. Usually when I can’t find a song title or artist I type lyrics in a search engine that stand out. What really stood out with this song is the part at the very start and after the chorus where the woman goes, “ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh” fairly fast. Also the line, “leaving our baby” which got sung many times in the song repeatedly.
Omigod you hit the nail on the head. Your a legend. How did you know? The answer is “real gone kid” by Deacon Blue. These people were correct: nendlin
cchidzey
Nendlin was the first to answer in an impressive time of only 4 minutes after i posted the question. Where can i mail a $50 to? I’ll send it to both people who were correct. I’ll give Nendlin $100 for being first. I posted this question before and it was sitting there for days and no one could answer. I just refreshed it by adding a few more details. I’ve never heard of this band before. The actual lyrrics of that line is, “maybe now baby” but to me it sounded like “leaving our baby”. If the legends who answered this care to share how they knew that would be much appreciated. You must have an awesome taste in music. Gee this is a good song. Why isn’t this band famous? Or are they? You’ve made me a happy man, thanks guys. Thanks also to everyone who answered!

btw, how do i mark this question as answered?

Layla B :

I love music and admire/appreciate all musicians, even if the music they create isn’t my taste. But when it comes down to it I’m mostly a classic rock girl. BUT I do have that one guilty pleasure band that I buy every CD of and know everything about..The Academy Is. They’re one of the 1000’s of emo-pop-rock bands out there but I just have such a soft spot for them. They’re the one band that totally sticks out and doesn’t really go with whats on my iTunes.

Do you have a band like this? Maybe you’re a metal head but secretly like some of Miley Cyrus’s songs. Just curious, thought it would be a fun question:) haha.

And don’t freak out, I’m in no way judging music or whatever. I know everyone listens to different stuff and it doesn’t matter what you choose to listen to. But this is JUST FOR FUN.
